WHAT IS CUB SCOUTS

& HOW DO I JOIN?

What is Cub Scouts?

Watch the very informative video about the Cub Scout Program ….

Just 5 of the infinite benefits of Cub Scouts (especially in our modern world) are …

  1. Outdoor Activities:  Cub Scouts gets our kids off electronics and outside.

  2. They TRY New Things:  Throughout the many adventures the Scouts can learn magic tricks, make STEM projects and so much more!

  3. Learn Important Skills:  Kids will learn how to read maps, how to navigate and stay safe while hiking, use tools to make projects (Fan Favorite:  Pinewood Derby Cars), knot tying, basic first aid skills, sportsmanship, leadership skills and sooooo much more.

  4. Learn to Set & Achieve Goals:  Throughout the program Scouts will learn hot to set physical fitness, nutrition and even fundraising goals.  The most important character building motto we teach is DO YOUR BEST!  Scouts will be proud of what they accomplish and learn to never give up.

  5. Character Development:  This is one of the most important and long lasting benefits to the scouting program.  Kids will learn from heir very first day in the program what it means to be a Scout.  Kids will learn the Scout Oath and Scout Law and how to apply that o their routines building up their moral compass.

Welcome both Girls & Boys in Scouts!

(Girls Love the Outdoors TOO!!!!)

The scouting program is NOT A BOYS ONLY PROGRAM!  Many girls find the outdoors exciting and thrilling.  If you have a daughter who is a kid that loves the outdoors and nature, well then the Scout program will fulfill that adventurous nature in her.  Watch this cute video made by both boy and “girl” scouts and what they have to say about the Scouting Program.

PACK ORGANIZATION:

A Cub Scout Pack is organized into rank groups by age.  Each age group is considered a certain rank within the Pack as follows:

Lion Cubs - Kindergarten

Tiger Cubs - 1st Grade

Wolf Cubs - 2nd Grade

Bear Cubs - 3rd Grade

Webelo (Year 1) - 4th Grade

Webelo (AOL/Year 2) - 5th Grade

Depending on enrollment within each rank there may be more than one den and leader per rank group.  The Den leader is the leader of that group of assigned scouts and will facilitate fun activities and tasks in order to work towards completing requirements and adventures to make the next rank.

Example of how rank adventures and rewards work …

A 1st Grader joins Cub Scouts and therefore will be considered a Tiger Cub.  This scout will be working on requirements and adventures needed to make Tiger Rank.  Once the Scout completed the requirements to make Tiger rank he/she will be rewarded the Tiger Patch to wear on his/her uniform signifying completion of Tiger rank.  However, the Tiger Cub will not be considered a Wolf Cub until June 1st of his 1st Grade Year.  All requirements must be me by this date in their grade year in order to make rank (i.e. permitted to wear Tiger Rank Patch on his/her uniform).  All adventures completed along the way are rewarded the belt loops and pins and some other awards provide for a temporary uniform patch (i.e. participating in pinewood derby, shooting sports awards etc.)  If this Tiger Cub did not complete all his requirements he will still be considered a Wolf Cub on June 1st; however will not have the Tiger Rank Patch on his Uniform.  Starting June 1st this Scout would now be working on his Wolf Requirements and Adventures.

How Often Do We Meet?

Den Meetings

Dens will meet twice a month on average, with active Dens meeting more times a month.

A Den is a group of Cub Scouts that are in the same grade level and work as a team to complete adventures.  While these meetings include games and hands-on activities that are fun, Scouts will also learn important skills they will need to progress to the next rank within the Cub Scouting Program.

Pack Meetings

Pack meetings are held between once and twice a month.

The Pack (i.e. all dens that make up the Pack) will meet to participate in a large group activity and/or present what they have learned at the Den Meetings.  Scouts will also receive formal recognition for their accomplishments; however, the Den leaders will also provide an immediate acknowledgement when adventures are completed.  The Pack will facilitate the organization of FUN activities throughout the year, which also reinforces the Packs Mission Statement.

Our Pack runs what is considered a full-year Pack Program, meaning that we provide scheduling of events all year round. In addition to the general Pack and Den scheduled meetings we schedule family camp outs, Pack camp outs, the Pinewood Derby Race-off, outdoor adventures (hiking, fishing etc.), field trips, community service projects etc.
